   Home/Change Series

"Balto" was a victim of circumstance at the box office. It was released at the same time as Pixar's "Toy Story" in late 1995, and subsequently made a quick disappearance. A product of Universal and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Animation, I constantly hear it mistaken for a product of Disney or even as Japanese anime. While the film suffered from a weak story and shallow characters (don't get me started on its claims of being "based on true events"!), it did boast some nice character design and beautiful backgrounds. It also gets points for refraining from bad musical sequences.
